Impact Report 2024

Bold Solutions for a Better Future

2024 has been a year of victories for citizen engagement and grassroots influence. Advance Colorado played a pivotal role in empowering Coloradans to demand reform when elected leaders failed to act. By addressing key issues such as property tax reform, public safety, and transparent governance, Advance Colorado proved that common-sense change is possible—even in a state often considered a progressive stronghold.

This year’s efforts have made a tangible difference across Colorado, showcasing the power of collective action to bring about meaningful reform.

2024: Key Victories

Capping and Cutting Property Taxes
After two years of grassroots advocacy, Advance Colorado helped secure a bipartisan solution to the state’s property tax crisis. This landmark reform rolls back double-digit tax increases, establishes caps on future hikes, and saves Colorado property owners $1.6 billion annually.
Boosting Public Safety
Colorado voters supported two critical citizen initiatives spearheaded by Advance Colorado:
  • Truth in Sentencing: Requires violent offenders to serve at least 85% of their sentences, a significant increase from the current 46% average.
  • Back the Blue: Allocates $350 million in existing state funds to strengthen law enforcement through recruitment, training, and resources. These measures reflect Colorado’s commitment to safer communities.
Fighting for Education Reform
Advance Colorado stood alongside other education reform advocates to defeat legislation that threatened the state’s charter school movement. Recognizing the need for stronger protections, Advance Colorado backed a constitutional amendment to enshrine school choice rights. While the measure narrowly missed passage, nearly half of voters supported it, highlighting the growing demand for parental empowerment and accountability in education.
Empowering Future Leaders
The Advance Colorado Academy continued to prepare citizens for public service, with hundreds of Coloradans completing its practical training programs. This year, 14 alumni achieved election victories, including Congressman-elect Gabe Evans and State Board of Education members Yazmin Navarro and Kristi Burton Brown. These leaders will help shape a brighter future for Colorado.

2025: Looking Ahead

Advance Colorado remains committed to addressing the issues that matter most to Coloradans. With a focus on research, advocacy, and grassroots action, the organization continues to drive bold, innovative, and sustainable solutions that benefit communities across the state.
